thanks for the comment. I still haven't started Catcher in the Rye or 1984 yet but your comment about really enjoying 1984 reading it while you were younger got me thinking. To Kill a Mockingbird is a book I read around the time in my life that you mentioned in your reply. I wonder if I'd still find it so powerful & compelling now. Personally I find the legendary film version with Gregory Peck as Atticus to be a let down because they do nothing with the first half of the book focusing on Scout & the kids' childhood. The 1st half is totally different than the 2nd but connected. This fact also made me think that Mockingbird probably would be published as two shorter books if published today.
